CANBO M-905 Laser Safety Sensor With ToF Technology

Mar 28, 2025

Time-of-Flight (ToF) is a measurement technique that calculates the distance between a sensor and an object by measuring the time it takes for a signal (e.g., light, sound, or radio waves) to travel from the sensor to the object and back. We adopt this technique to apply to our automatic door safety sensor.

In automatic doors, ToF sensors enhance safety by detecting obstacles or people in the door's path to prevent collisions. Here's how it works:

  1.   Emission & Detection: The ToF sensor emits infrared light pulses toward the area covered by the door on its opening and closing paths

  2. Distance Measurement: When an object or a person enters the detection zone, the reflected light is captured by the sensor. The ToF system calculates the object's distance in real time.

  3. Safety Response: ①If an object is detected within a predefined "danger zone" or during door closure, the sensor triggers the door to stop or reverse direction. ②It ensures the door remains open while someone is passing through, improving accessibility and safety.
